For a long while now my hips have kind been bugging me, when I cheered there were times I felt like my hip had popped out and would not go in which made landing jumps extremely hard/painful, I never really thought anything of it and really other then when it felt like it popped they didn't bug me. When I was pregnant my hips kill all the time, and I felt like they were popping out a ton, it was hard to get up after sitting for a long time things like that I had heard hip pain was normal so I just brushed it off. My Aunt has horrible hip problems she was diagnosed with congenital hip displayshia and has had to have 4 hip surgerys and she is only 38 years young, the doctors always tell her if they would have caught it sooner they wouldn't be doing all that they have to do to the poor lady! I have always wanted to run and this summer I finally decided that I was going to start I was able to get on a Ragnar team with my Mom and Dad, the more I traded the more my hips hurt and the harder it was to get up, get out of the car, get in/out of bed, things that shouldn't cause pain to my hips. One day after a run I decided I was sick of it and asked my cute Aunt what made her go into the doctor and what to look out for as she told me her story I just sat there and crossed things off oh my list, I was scared to death she said that if running caused them pain she wouldn't run, I just laughed and didn't really listen knowing that I had just paid for Ragnar I wasn't going to back out then! My mom made me promise I would go to the doctor after Ragnar so I finally go around to it, and I as well have what my poor Aunt has all though it is not as bad, what happens is our hip joint is missed shaped so when we move our hip joint it is rubbing bone to bone here is a picture:
This is a NORMAL hip
This is like MY hip
Thankfully I am still pretty young, and somewhat healthy my doctor said that if I am willing to do some workouts, and take some pills hopefully it will make my joints stronger then they are right at the moment which should buy me a LONG while before I have to get hip replacements like my Aunt as long as I do them daily. Then he also said that as of right now he doesn't want me to run, I was a little bummed I had just been asked to do another relay race, I really wanted to do an all girls Ragnar team, and my sister and I decided to do a half this summer :( but hopefully with me doing what I am told I will be able to do those things later down the road! I am very lucky that it is not worse, I was a little worried that he was going to say I couldn't get pregnant (because of the weight I gain while pregnant) or that I couldn't carry Isaiah anymore things like that I am just so glad he didn't! So if anyone knows of somewhere that teaches yoga, or maybe a cycling class here in Logan let me know because those are two things I need to try!
